Visit Film Locations

Cornwall has been a popular location for filming for many years and our area is no exception.  Here is a rough guide to films, TV series and adverts that have been filmed in our area.

Doc Martin

The popular BBC TV series Doc Martin is filmed in Port Isaac. If you are a fan of the series you will recognise the village immediately and you may also recognise some of the residents who have been extras in the series.  Port Isaac is also the home of the folk group The Fisherman's Friends and has been the setting for other films including British comedy Saving Grace with Brenda Blethyn and Swept from the Sea with Rachel Weiss.

Rick Stein

Padstow's most famous resident, Rick Stein has filmed many programmes in the area.

Rosamund Pilcher

Prideaux Place in Padstow has been used as the setting in the TV dramatisation of some of Rosamund Pilcher's books including Coming Home with Joanna Lumley and several more for German television.  Prideaux Place has also seen filming for Twelth Night with Helena Bonham Carter and Ben Kingsley and ITV's Wycliffe. It was featured on Most Haunted and Antiques Roadshow.

Young's Fish Advert

In 2011 Port Isaac's Fisherman's Friends filmed an advert for Young's in Padstow harbour.

The Eagle has Landed

In 1976 Jenny Agutter and Michael Caine filmed some of the scenes from the Eagle has landed in the sand dunes at Rock.

Sir John Betjeman

The late poet laureate Sir John Betjeman loved this area and lived at Trebetherick between Rock and Polzeath.  Many of the programmes about his life feature the coastline around Daymer Bay.
